DIY Coconut Oil Conditioner

26 Jan

My Mother-In-Law told me about the benefits of Coconut Oil awhile ago &  I must say, I’m glad she shared this with me. I have really liked it ever since I started using it. There are so many things you can use it for,  but for this post I’m going to focus on using it as a conditioner. I buy it in the solid form & this is the kind I’ve been using lately- Coconut Oil

It’s really quick & easy:

  • I put about a teaspoon into my hands & let it melt (it melts when its heated so it will become a liquid right in your hand)
  • Then I run through the ends of my hair, while it’s dry.
  • I leave it in for around20 minutes
  •  Then shampoo and condition with my regular conditioner as usual.

Now, I will say that my hair is fine, so I only apply a little on the ends & that has worked out great for my hair type. That being said,  I have friends with thicker, coarser hair  that have used this as an overnight conditioner and they’ve really liked it. Same technique, just leave in overnight  and cover with a shower cap or hair wrap & shampoo out in the morning.

I like this because it conditions well, it’s inexpensive & while its working, you smell like a pina colada 🙂

All together now….If you like Pina Coladas……

Later Gators,

I love coconut oil!!! I use it on my face as a moisturizer and on Maggie to prevent diaper rash. She hasn’t had a case of diaper rash since I began using it! It’s nice not to have to use creams that have so many chemicals on her delicate skin.

I use it for so many things, health & beauty related, but haven’t tried yet as a diaper cream. That’s awesome that it works so well for Maggie. I’ll have to use your tip. Hooray for the Co-Co 😉 You rock, thanks!
