Oven Mitt as a heat shield

11 Feb

Each morning I wake up at 5:30 am and start the crazy process of trying to get ready for work, all while taking care of my mini-me and wrangling my herd of pets. The way I run around the house scarily resembles  a contestant on the show Supermarket Sweep…minus the team sweatshirts, feather bangs and 12  hams.

Due to my morning chaos, I usually don’t have time to wait for my straightener to cool and that’s a bit of a problemo if I need to take it with me that day. Throwing it in my bag without some sort of a shield is not a good idea either (trust me, I have plenty of burn marks, aka iron tattoos to prove it!) I would normally put it in an actual  “heat shield”, but in typical Erin fashion, I can’t always find it.

So, what I do when I’m in a rush is just put the straightener in a heat resistant oven mitt & that does the trick! This also works great when traveling.

Ciao for now!
