DIY Microdermabrasion: Updated

12 Mar

Microdermabrasion for a penny?!?!?!

Yes, you read that correctly…you can create a microdermabrasion paste, using  a common household product and it’ll only set you back a cent!

Products marketed as “Microdermabrasion” are everywhere and many of them are pricey, way more than what this DIY alternative will cost you. I must admit, I bought into the  microdermabrasion hype  in the past and have purchased several products, trying to get my skin as smooth and flawless as possible. Well, flawless never happened, but they did make my skin smooth. I thought it was a little crazy for me to drop so much $ on something that was basically just a good face scrub. So, awhile back, I started looking into DIY alternatives and found one, that is super cheap & only requires 2 ingredients: Baking Soda & Water!

This is all you have to do:

  • Mix 3 parts baking soda & 1 part water to make a paste. (make sure the paste isn’t too runny) Before applying the paste, clean your face & remove your makeup.
  • Apply the paste & gently scrub in a circular motion. I do this on my face for a couple of minutes (Don’t scrub too hard or for too long or you may get some senstivity)
  • Then just rinse it off.

Updated:  To make your skin extra soft, add some coconut oil to the paste. I’m coo-coo for coconut oil & will be sharing more DIY beauty tips using it in the near future.

Now, this isn’t going to transform you into Heidi Klum (BUMMER!) but it will make your skin very soft. And the best part is that it costs almost nothing!

If you want to make your lips smooth while you’re at it, check out my DIY Sugar Scrub. It’s cheap & SWEET 🙂
